(1) North Wind - Tsaphown (6828) - hidden, i.e. dark; used only of the north as a quarter (gloomy and unknown).
The north wind of Israel is the Cold,Bitter, Winter wind.
(2) South Wind - Tsaphan (6845) - a primitive root; to hide (by covering over); by implication, to hoard or reserve; figuratively to deny; specifically (favorably) to protect, (unfavorably) to lurk:
the south (as being on the right hand of a person facing the east):
from root meaning the right hand or side (leg, eye) of a person or other object (as the stronger and more dexterous); locally, the south.
The south wind in Israel is the Warm, Refreshing, Summer wind.
