(i) Spring

(ii) Gal (1530) - something rolled, i.e. a heap of stone or dung (plural ruins), by analogy, a spring of water (plural waves) -' living water'.

A water source. Both the NKJV and the KJV use this word to translate several different Hebrew and Greek words. The two main types of fountains were the man-made well, or cistern, and the natural spring. To the Israelites, after 40 years of wandering in the dry wilderness of Sinai, the many fresh water springs of Canaan were a sign of real blessing. In this dry climate it was important that a spring was nearby before a city or village could be established. Thus the Hebrew word for spring, En, is preserved today in such biblical place names as En-dor, meaning "the spring of the town of Dor," or En-gedi, "the spring of the wild goat."
