He's There When We Cannot See Him.

"By faith [Moses] left Egypt, not fearing the king's anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible." Hebrews 11:27, NIV

I'm absolutely convinced that God uses children to teach us simple, yet

profound truths about himself. And since I'm Kylie's father, God's mouthpiece in my case is a three-year-old girl who asks truly stunning,

thought-provoking questions.

My most recent theology lesson came as Kylie and I were looking up at the

moon as it shone forth in the starry night sky. As we were admiring the

yellow glow, some dark clouds drifted in front of the moon, and suddenly it

was gone -- or so Kylie thought.

"The moon went bye-bye," said Kylie in her smallest, sweetest voice.

"No, honey," I said. "The moon's still there. It's just behind the clouds."

As those words came off my lips, God spoke to me -- not in an audible voice, but he spoke to me just the same. He reminded me that just as the moon was still there when it was obscured by clouds, so God was still there in my life when the clouds rolled in.

Armed with this important reminder, I was able to look down at Kylie and add, "The moon's there even when you can't see it, just like God's there when you can't see him."

My point to Kylie was that God is there even though we can't literally see

him. But God's point to me was that he's there even when we can't see him

working in our lives.

The writer of Hebrews tells us that Moses led his people out of Egypt because "he saw him who is invisible." Moses not only saw God's glory on Mount Sinai, but I believe that he also saw an invisible God become visible in the circumstances of his life.

Can you see God working in your life? Even though he's sometimes obscured by the clouds of sin and doubt, do you know he's there? My prayer for you is that you will understand that although he's invisible in the physical sense, God is never invisible in your life nor in your circumstances.
