Historically, tentmakers are missions-committed Christian who, like Paul, support themselves in secular work, as they engage in cross-cultural ministry on the job in their free-time.

Whereas 'Tentmaking' is merely a financial support for the mission work of the missionary, in Business for Mission the Business is the Mission. The whole business is designed under Biblical Principles to show forth God's righteousness and justice and provide an environment where unreached peoples may be redeemed in the whole being - providing Discipleship training, bringing them to Christ and forming Church plants and also restoring the dignity of the poor or outcast groups in the society (eg. a business providing work and discipleship for ex-prostitutes).

This latter vision is starting to grip many businessmen and may be a key strategy in the very near future - particularly in the more developed countries on South East Asia where Chinese Businessmen and women particularly have a strong gifting in this area.

( Prophetically this ministry can be described as robbing the Harlot to clothe the Bride).
