(1) Not being Baptised in the Spirit . Seek prayer from mature, Spirit-Filled believer.
(2) Not believing the Gifts are for today (Unbelief -due to wrong teaching, unbelieving spirits or the flesh). Seek prayer and meditate on Genesis 15:6 and also look back over LESSON FOUR: Moving Into Gifting.
(3) Not really desiring the Gift enough. Meditate on 1 Corinthians 14:1 and ask the Lord for His gifts to You.
(4) Ignorance about the Gifts ( 1 Corinthians 12:1). Study again LESSON FOUR: Moving Into Gifting.Seek help from someone you know moves in the gifts properly.
(5) Fear: Of what people think, of failure, of demonic counterfeit etc.. Seek prayer and claim 2 Timothy 1:7 in faith.
(6) Over zealousness for the gifts, using them for Self-Glorification. Meditate on 1 Corinthains 14:12 - The Corinthains had this problem, magnifying the gift of Tongues above all others and using it as a badge of Spiritual Maturity. Paul gently rebuked them for this and exhorted them to be balanced in the use of the gifts with the right motive - to ENCOURAGE others.
(7) Spiritual Unreceptivity - may be due to (a) Demonic attack, (b) Lack of time with the Lord or (c) Disobedience (sin in your life). Check yourself in these areas and take appropriate action.
