"Now the serpent..said to the woman...."you will not surely die...in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God...So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and it Was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate....they knew that they were naked and they...made themselves coverings.. ..Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God".
As a result of their disobedience the man and woman were thrown out of the garden (God's place of purpose and destiny) and lived under a curse (on the woman a curse of pain in childbearing and desire towards her husband, on a man a curse of hard toil and sweat-filled labour).
They now were separated from God's Will for their lives.
