STEP THREE : Future Glorious Inheritance of Christians (1:3-4)

NKJV / KJV / NIV / ASV / Overview Chart.

Firstly read Matthew Henry's Commentary on 1 Peter 1:3-5

Look again at The Three Steps Of Salvation Diagram.

This section shows us the glorious inheritance we are to fix our vision on in order to suffer with joy for God!

1 Peter 1:3 - God is blessed, glorified because of the outworking of His purposes for us. Full of mercy, in His grace He has 'born us again' into a 'living hope'. Our born again experience should fill us with a lively (quickened) hope based on the Resurrection of Jesus. He's alive and so are we in Him. Even if we go through trials this truth will not only sustain us but fill us with joy.

1 Peter 1:4 - Peter shows us the future inheritance that is 'incorruptible' that we have waiting for us. On the mount Transfiguration he would have glimpsed this and now shares it with us. It is a glorious inheritance that is for eternity in heaven.

Read the following verses that show us more about this prophecied inheritance - See these Scripture about our Inheritance In Christ.

This 'glory' (greek 'doxa') is mentioned nine times in First Peter. See 1 Peter 1:7, 11,21,4:11,13,14,5:1,4,10.

Indeed, when Jesus went to the cross to suffer,He looked ahead to this glory and was full of the joy and peace of the Lord in the midst of His sufferings (See Hebrews 12:2).

We are to do likewise and fix our eyes on that future place prepared for us in heaven.

1 Peter 4:13 and 1 Peter 4:14 sum up this step.
